Spidernets Web Design

At Spidernets we do not use templates, all our web sites are created from scratch. This enables us to have no preconceived ideas of how the finished web site should look. Although we are happy to advise, our approach is to work closely with you to establish a look and feel you envisage is best suited to the product or service you wish to market. Spinning pictures and sound may not be appropriate to market the catering industry, however it has the desired effect when used to portray the excitement and fun of a rock band. The typical design cycle employed by Spidernets and our customers can be seen on the right. Select the buttons to review a summary of each process.

Our commissions are generally as a result of “word of mouth recommendations” or as an enquiry from our web site. After establishing contact with our potential clients, we like to discuss an outline of the requirements either by meeting our customers in person or by telephone / email. This will give us a good idea of the desired look and feel for the new web site. In these discussions we would normally review such things as the number of pages, colours, fonts, navigation, layouts and content for both images and text.
We will then summarise the agreed scope of the web design for your approval.
We charge £35 per hour for the time we spend working on your site. After gauging the amount of work involved we will issue a quote to accompany the documented scope of the project. The initial page is usually the most time consuming as it is this page that sets out the look and feel of the web site and therefore our charges for this are usually in the region of £150 and approximately £50 for each additional page. From this example you will see that a standard 5 page web site would cost you approximately £350. Obviously this can vary depending on the content required such as flash, sound, content management etc. However, this will all be made clear in our quote, as will the predicted time scales to complete the project.
At this point we will create a prototype home page to include your suggested fonts, page layout, navigation and images. This is hardly ever how the finished product will look but it is the opportunity to set out the direction of the project.
When we have completed the prototype we will publish it to a secure location on our web site. We will then issue you with a username and password so that you can log onto our site and view progress. At this point we will be asking you for feedback, what you like, what you don’t like. Nothing is set in stone at this point – make as many changes as you like!
Having taken on board your comments, we will set about amending the prototype to meet your requirements. Again, these will be published on our site for you to log into and check. When you are satisfied that we have the right look and feel for your web site we will expand the web site to incorporate the additional pages.
If you are happy with the scope of the project, our predicted time scales and the charges for us to carry out the work for you, we will ask you for a 20% deposit before commencing work. At this point we will be discussing with you, (assuming you don’t already have them) domain names and web hosting. We are happy to advise and assist you to purchase and set these up. Generally speaking your domain name will cost you approximately £10 for 2 years and your hosting from £50 a year.
At this point we will administer your hosting package and upload your completed web site to your chosen domain name and set up your email addresses.
There is still plenty of scope to modify and fine tune your site so that it appears exactly as you want it. We offer 2 months unlimited changes to your web site during this bedding in stage.
Once we have published the site to your domain, you have tested it and you are satisfied that we have fulfilled our brief, we will invoice you for the balance of our charges.
You still have up to two months to amend it and fine tune it at no additional cost to you.
As we build our web sites we attempt to make them search engine friendly so that they will be optimised for the search engines (primarily Google) and thereby rank as highly as possible in the search listings. We will also register your site with all the popular search engines and submit your url to the relevant internet databases.
Once your site is up and running we are happy to assist you with maintenance of your site such as email changes, content change updates or additional pages. We can do this on an ad hoc basis for which we charge a nominal fee to cover our time or offer ongoing support at an agreed monthly rate.
